Worship and Work

Sunday Jun 21, 2020

Community on Mission
When God’s people returned to their homeland, they had to make a choice to pursue what is most important.
A massive rebuilding project laid ahead of them yet they had to re-evaluate what things mattered the most.
In this message we see that:Restoration Prioritises WORSHIPRestoration Necessitates hard WORKThe order is crucial for the community on mission to function healthily.
Worship at Foundation Church Belfast
As we prepare to return to gathered worship at Foundation Church Belfast we must get back to the core purpose of our gathering – WORSHIP.
So out of a solid grasp of God and what he has done in saving us, we WORK hard, laying down foundations and building up the church so that more can see and hear God at work among them.
We’d love you to join the team.

When God restores the worshipping community he calls together a group of people share:
– a PIONEERING spirit
– a DIVERSE makeup, and
– are deeply CONNECTED to one another.
In this message we examine the teaching of Ezra 2 as part of our RESTORATION series.
Our shared vision is to impact the Belfast church and the wider society, and across the island of Ireland for Jesus. We do this through the planting and revitalisation of gospel-centred, Spirit-empowered communities on mission.

Stirring and Supply

Sunday Jun 07, 2020

Sunday Jun 07, 2020

In the book of Ezra we see how God restores his people back to worship after decades in exile. He STIRS the community with renewed vision and SUPPLIES them with the resources to rebuild the temple for worship.
At Foundation Church Belfast as we prepare ourselves to return to gathered worship we can be confident that God STIRS us afresh and promises to SUPPLY what we need to build for him.
Our shared vision is to impact and influence Belfast and the island of Ireland for Jesus. We do this through the planting and revitalisation of gospel-centred, Spirit-empowered churches on mission for the Kingdom.
Will you join the team? There’s room for everybody!

In the final message of our Gideon series we ask: how do we prevent ending the mission badly?
Gideon is famous for his stunning victory against all odds as he delivered Israel from their enemies. But his life did not end well. He compromised on his convictions and opened the door for further disintegration of Israelite society.
In this message we examine some of the reasons why Gideon ended badly:
He reverted to type
He believed the hypeWe conclude by showing how we may avoid his errors and instead live lives that are faith-filled and purposeful.

Strength and Weakness

Sunday May 10, 2020

Sunday May 10, 2020

Before Gideon goes to battle he must be convicted of God’s calling and anointing of him. His faith is weak and God takes steps to strengthen him for the fight.
With the coronavirus pandemic we realise our vulnerability and powerlessness like never before, whether as a nation or as individuals. The good news is that God has power to save and deepen our faith and trust in him. Our weakness points us to his saving power working in us.
In this message we see when it comes to salvation,
God strengthens the weakGod weakens the strongMain text: Judges 6:35-7:18
Preacher: David Varney, pastor Foundation Church Belfast

Dealing with the inner enemy

Sunday May 03, 2020

Sunday May 03, 2020

The second message in our series on the Old Testament character Gideon.
Before God uses Gideon to achieve victory against Israel’s external enemies, he leads Gideon to tackle the inner enemy – Israel’s divided heart towards God.
The people have embraced idols and have gone away from their first love, their source of identity and peace.
Decisive action needs to be taken before Israel have any hope of overcoming their external enemies.
Inner renewal is the precursor to wider blessing from God.
In this message we see:
We cannot expect God’s blessing when busy serving idolsCutting down our idols is a painful processThe gospel of Jesus gives us power to deal with our idolsMain text: Judges 6:25-35
Preacher: David Varney, pastor Foundation Church Belfast
