Christians are meant to be the best citizens and co-workers out there. That may be true for some, but not all.
It is possible to use good works to boost one's own reputation rather than God's, robbing good works of their own goodness. They simply become a tool to build one's platform.
St. Paul points us to the astounding gospel of Jesus as the power for transformation and basis of our actions in the world.

How we interact with one another in the church carries attractional power before the onlooking world. According to St. Paul, the quality of our ordinary relationships beautifies the gospel of Jesus.
That elevates the importance of our relational connection.
And a community that is committed to pursuing relational depth and quality becomes radically ordinary.
Yes, we're talking about ordinary relationships (older men, older women, younger women, younger men etc.) but if we follow Paul's teaching, our relationships become radically ordinary.

The problem with an absence of good leadership is not no leadership but bad leadership.
Before elders were identified and commissioned in the new churches in Crete, fake teachers had crept in to the leadership vacuum, sensing an opportunity to build a stage for themselves.
These fake teachers use religious language to manipulate their hearers, yet the result is disunity and weakening of the missional impact of the church.
St. Paul outlines the ways we can detect fake teachers and helps us to guard against them and their damaging content.

The newly-planted churches in Crete needed ongoing apostolic input in order to establish them as strong and resilient communities of faith.
The Apostle Paul wrote to his emissary Titus, whom he had sent to Crete to help the churches develop and mature.
Paul's main teaching in his letter can be summed up: Learn the Truth and Live the Truth.
It's a simple message, but one desperately needed in Cretan culture. Similarly, if we at Foundation Church are to become strong and resilient, we need to remain deeply committed to this fundamental principle: Learn the Truth and Live the Truth.
